The APEX company ran our fundraiser this year, as the school's Foundation moved away from the triathlon we've done for so many years. The APEX staffers were on campus for two weeks, teaching character lessons each day and generally interacting with and encouraging our students.
They also set up the two small running tracks with cones, and ran everything. We parent volunteers helped out, but it was interesting (and nice!) to not be in charge of it all.
I helped pass out waters during Violet's run,and later I helped mark the laps completed by the students on the backs of their t-shirts.
The lady in the orange is Sunshine Sarah (all the staffers had fun nicknames), and she was the APEX leader in Violet's class. Violet loved Sunshine Sarah, and was excited to collect pledges to help bring rewards to her class, like extra recess and homework passes.
She did it! Violet logged all 36 laps!
Here's Cora, running with her grade level an hour later. She was pumped!

Cora was tired after the run - she logged 47 laps! Once the students reached 36, they could continue running, but the sponsors wouldn't be asked to fund more than the maximum of 36. Some of the boys hit 60 laps! (The track was 1/16 of a mile, and they had a half-hour to run.)
Here's Cora's class after - ready for a rest!
